The Hanover Township Park District, located at 800 Fillmore St. (old Hanover High School), was formed and funded by a popular referendum in April 2003 after many years of organization and volunteer work. Among their first actions was to purchase the former Hanover School vacated that summer by the River Ridge School District.
In addition to ongoing programming, rooms are available for daily or long-term rental by the public. The Park District operates a Fitness Center that you can use during business hours or join on a monthly basis for unlimited access. Send questions and comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. 2013 “Dump the Plump” Fitness Challenge! Program runs from May 11th – June 29th, 2013. Cost is $10/person. Sign up at Park District, Saturday, May 11th from 1pm – 3pm. (If you are unable to make it at this time, call the Park District at 815-591-3622 to set up an appointment for registering.) Weekly Saturday Weigh-ins from 1pm – 3pm. Cash & Membership prizes to the Top 3 Losers. Final Weigh-in & prizes given June 29th at 1pm. YOUR CHALLENGE FEE COVERS: Unlimited access to the Fitness Center and gym, Night time group video exercise classes (Tues., Wed., Thurs.) We will be using our new 16ft. movie screen! The Hanover Park District now has “YARD SALE” signs available for use by any Hanover resident. The signs can be borrowed from the Park District and then must be returned afterwards. This year’s All-Town yard sales will be Saturday, June 22nd. To get your sale in the Newspaper ad, the deadline is June 16th. To get it placed on the map the deadline is June 19th. ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE – Beginning June 4th, 2013:
Hanover Township Park District will begin the 2013 Adult Basketball League on Tuesday June 4th. Games every Tuesday until October (possibly longer or year-round if enough interest). Register anytime as a team or individual player. Game start times: 6 pm, 7 pm, & 8 pm. Team size is 4 to 8 players. Cost is $20 per player, must be 16 years of age.
