The Hanover All-Church Vacation Bible School will be held from June 17 -20, 2013 at the Hanover Township Hall, 111 Monroe St., Hanover, from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm each day. “God’s Backyard Bible Camp under the Sun – Where Kids have a blast serving Jesus!” To pre-register, call Shirley Brokaw at 815-591-2275.

Hanover VFW Memorial Day Ceremony

On Monday, May 27th, 2013, the Hanover VFW Post 5300 will be sponsoring a Memorial Day Ceremony. Parade and services will be held at Evergreen Cemetary, beginning at 11:00 am. A Pot-luck luncheon will be served at the Hanover VFW at Noon. Everyone Welcome!

Hanover All-Town Yard Sales

The Hanover All-Town Yard sales will be Saturday, June 22nd, 2013! If you want your Yard Sale placed in the newspaper ad…FREE…the deadline is June 16th, 2013. The deadline for getting your Yard Sale on the printed map is June 19th, 2013. Maps will be available at different businesses around town on Friday, June 21st. To submit your Yard Sale info, contact the Park District office by calling 815-591-3622 or email them at htpd@jcwifi.com or call Monica Gilmore at 815-238-2643 or email her at mgilmore@sandprairie.net PLEASE NOTE: The Park District has large outdoor yard sale signs with stands that can be checked out for this event, but must be returned afterwards. Call the Park District if you would like to borrow a sign.

FREE OUTDOOR MOVIES in White Park this summer!

The Hanover Township Park District will be hosting FREE OUTDOOR MOVIES in White Park. Each movie will begin at Dusk, with the first one scheduled for June 1st, 2013. Concessions will be available for purchase. All children 12 & under MUST be accompanied by an adult. In the event of inclement weather, the movies will be shown at the Hanover Park District (old school). Movies are subject to change, but the list is as follows: June 1st – RISE OF THE GUARDIANS, June 15th – JAILHOUSE ROCK (Elvis), June 29th – APPLE DUMPLING GANG, July 27th – JAWS, August 10th – BACK TO SCHOOL, and August 24th – MUSIC MAN. The September date(s) are yet to be determined. In October there will be a Double Feature of CORPSE BRIDE and HOUSE OF WAX, which will be held on October 26th. 2013 HTPD Fitness Challenge – Dump the Plump!

Program runs from May 11th – June 29th, 2013. Cost is $10/person. Sign up at Hanover Township Park District (old school) on Saturday, May 11th from 1pm – 3pm. (If you can not make it at this time, but would like to participate, please contact the Park District at 815-591-3622 to set up an appointment for registering.) Weekly Saturday weigh-ins (1 – 3 pm.) Cash and Membership prizes to the Top 3 Losers. Final weigh-in and prizes given June 29th at 1pm. YOUR CHALLENGE FEE COVERS: Unlimited access to fitness center and the gym. Night time group video exercise classes (Tues., Wed., Thurs.). We will be using our new 16 ft. movie screen. T-Shirt upon completion of the challenge. Cash Prizes. NEW POST OFFICE “LOBBY” HOURS

The “LOBBY” hours for the post office have been revised to better accomodate customers & enable them to pick up their mail. The “Window” hours have NOT changed. For questions, call the Hanover Post Office at 815-591-2219.

Monday – Friday: 7:45 am – 9:00 pm.

Saturday: 7:45 am – 6:00 pm

Sunday: CLOSED

Back Street Players 2013 Season Theater Coalition

2013 Season Tickets are now available for purchase at Hanover Village Hall, 207 Jefferson St., Hanover. The cost is $40.00/ticket and the ticket is good for one (1) performance of each show for the 2013 season.

The shows will be as follows (also on the Community Calendar): April 18th & 19th @ 7:30 pm — 3 for1 (3 – 1 act plays). July 13th @ 7:30 pm & July 14th @ 2 pm — The Adventures of Robin Hood. October 4th & 5th @ 7:30 pm — Queen of the Cow Towns (a new Mike Craver musical written for our theater coalition — the finale of Five Little Sinners.) Christmas Show –the traditional Christmas musical dessert theater will be held on December 7th @ 7:30 pm, and December 8th @ 2:00 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: These plays are all performed at the Hanover Township Hall, 111 Monroe St., Hanover. (not the Village Hall.)
